With Season 4 of My Hero Academia having just wrapped up this year, fans of the hit anime highly anticipate what's in store for Class 1-A come Season 5. Fans can't wait to see what happens to their favorite students, but one character who attracted quite the dedicated fanbase is Kyoka Jiro. The calm cool and collected Kyoka Jiro (or Earphone Jack) is one intriguing character, to say the least. Love her or hate her, Earphone Jack rocks hard.

Her analytical, strategic, and even musical skills are not to be underestimated. Although her personality can be a little much, she still comes through for her friends. And yet, others would argue that Kyoka isn't all that. With that being said, here are five reasons why Jiro is overrated and five more that prove she is underrated.
9 SHE'S OVERRATED: Her Team Was Eliminated During the Calvary BattleSeeing that Jiro has a formidable Quirk and solid team, there is no excuse for losing the Calvary Battle at the Sports Festival.
For example, Jiro can plug her earphones on the ground to create a mini earthquake. The mini earthquake will cause the other team to lose balance. If they fall, hey will be eliminated. Even if they don't, her team can use that small window to grab their headband. Although she didn't have her gear on her person, she could have come up with some strategy. Earphone Jack was capable of winning the round but she didn't maximize it.
8 SHE'S UNDERRATED: She's A Lot Smarter Than You ThinkClass 1-A is filled with brilliant young minds. Kyoka Jiro's achievements, however, rarely receives an acknowledgment. During the practical final, Jiro advises Koda to use his use animal controlling Quirk to instruct insects to travel underground, in order to initiate a surprise attack on Present Mike.
They are able to pass as a result. Although it is comical, she takes advantage of Denki's electricity Quirk, by kicking him into an enemy and electrocuting him, during the U.S. J incident. Jiro scores seventh in the class on her midterms.
7 SHE'S OVERRATED: She Can Be A Little RudeDespite how talented and resourceful Jiro can be, she tends to rub people the wrong way. Specifically, Denki.
She constantly makes fun of him and sometimes, she can go too far. For instance, the fact she implies he would never make it as a Pro Hero and he is not that smart is a very disrespectful thing to say to a fellow classmate. Jiro obviously antagonizes him because she has a crush on Denki, but she is still rude.
6 SHE'S UNDERRATED: Her Quirk Is Very ResourcefulJiro Quirk is resourceful in so many ways. For starters, she capable of hearing anything in the surrounding area as long as she has her earphone jack plugged into a hard surface. In addition, Kyoka can use the same technique to create vibration to unknowingly attacks on her opponents, which is seen during the provisional licensing exam arc. She sticks her jack in a vent to knock out the team members from the opposing school.

Moreover, one of the students possesses an ice Quirk, which is altering the temperature in the room Jiro's team is in, by using the same vent.
5 SHE'S OVERRATED: She Needs TutoringKyoka always teases Denki for being a lackluster student, but she needs help as much as she does every now and then. Jiro also attended Momo's tutoring sessions, alongside Denki, which means they're margin between them isn't that wide, as far as intellect goes.
It not to say Kyoka isn't a smart student because she is; she just isn't as smart as she may believe. There are other students that try harder and make better grades than her, while she doesn't even really seem to try.
4 SHE'S UNDERRATED: She's Multi-Faceted In MusicAside from aspiring to be a Pro Hero, Jiro has other talents that involving music. She is able to play the guitar and drums, among other instruments. Jiro also encompasses the ability to sing, as seen in the School Festival arc.
Seeing she comes from a family that also possess musical talents, it's not surprising she does, as well. It's a little upsetting she doesn't want to pursue a musical career, though.
3 SHE'S OVERRATED: Jiro's Quirk Can Be Harmful To Others & Even To HerselfKyoka's Earphone Jack is one of a kind. It not only has tracking capability but has the offensive capability, as well. Unfortunately, her Quirk does come with some drawbacks. Anytime Jiro uses her one her Super Moves, she risks harming her teammates, as during the Provisional Licensing Exam arc.

She constantly must warn them to cover their ears, prior to using her special moves. If Jiro needs to inform her comrades about this every time, how users can she really be in battle. Moreover, she hears bleed when she overuses her Quirk, as seen during her final exam.
2 SHE'S UNDERRATED: She's Very PracticalOften intense situations, Jiro showcases immense practicality. Whether taking an exam or fighting the league of villains, her calm composure allows her to make rational decisions. Other students albeit smart, tend to make impulsive choices from time to time, which results in them getting injured (looking at you Deku).
Jiro, thankfully, is not like this. She tries to look for the most reasonable solution when it comes to strategizing. When she contrives a plan, there are rarely any casualties. Because she is so laidback in nature, most often overlook this great trait of hers.
1 SHE'S OVERRATED: She's Very UnenthusiasticConsidering she is in the Hero Course at one of the most prestigious Superhero high schools in Japan, one would believe Kyoka would be a little more excited to be there. Most teenagers don't care for high school, and that's fair. However, most high schools aren't as pristine as UA. There are children that would give anything to go to UA, let alone be in the Hero Course, especially certain students from Class 1-B.
Other students in Class 1-A, like Deku and even Bakugo, show a lot of interest in their studies. They work hard constantly to improve themselves. Meanwhile, Jiro has an amazing Quirk and so much potential, but she doesn't put in the effort like those two.
